Keeping up with your student: Google Classroom and Remind 101

Why do you need to sign up for Google Classroom and Remind 101?

Google Classroom will be where I upload what we do in class each day so that students can review or get information when they are absent. It is VITAL that they do this. If they do not have access to a phone or computer, sign up anyway. They can use mine or one in the library. I will send out texts on Remind, and Remind will send them to your cell or email (depending on which you select). These will usually go out at the beginning of the week with a picture of the assignment board, as well as a day or two before students have a test or project due date.

Google Classroom-New STUDENT User:

  1. STUDENTS must sign up, not parents. Once the student registers, I will be able to send an invite to the parent/guardian but must have your email address on file.
  2. Go to www.google.com using the Google Chrome browser. Then choose the sign in button in the top right corner. Each student MUST use the email address given to them by the school. It is the only way they will have access to everything in the Google Classroom suite.
  3. After you use the school email address (usually the student's first initial and last name, followed by @jcboe.k12.al.us (Example- lwalls@jcboe.k12.al.us). Occasionally it has a different beginning. The password is the student's lunch number.
  4. Once you're logged into the suite, go back to the top right corner and find the grid icon. Click on it and find/choose the Classroom app.
  5. Once you're in Classroom, you will look at the top right to see the + sign and choose it to join a class. Put in the code for the specific class to join it. The codes are listed below:

1st period-English 9 code- q2eh0g5
