I am a graduate Cherokee Vocational High School in 1981.  I received a basketball scholarship to the University of Montevallo and completed my BS degree in Physical Education in 1985.  I returned to UM and completed my Master’s Degree in Physical Education 1986 and my Education Specialist Degree in 1996.  I attended Samford University and earned my Educational Leadership certification there in 2003.

I began my career as a physical education aide at Helena Elementary School in 1986.  In 1987, I began teaching and coaching at Pelham High School.  I spent one year teaching and coaching at West Blocton High School before going to Gardendale High School.  I spent 9.5 years teaching and coaching at GHS before becoming assistant principal there in 2005.  I served as assistant principal at Gardendale High School for 3.5 years before becoming principal at North Jefferson Middle School.  I served there for three years, 2008 – 2011.  I began my service in October, 2011, as principal at Shades Valley High School/Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School/Shades Valley Technical Academy.

October of this year, 2016, I had the opportunity to return to Gardendale High School as the principal.  I am very excited about the opportunity to return to where I began my Jefferson County career.  I look forward to working with the parents, students, staff and community of Gardendale.
